Liverpool FC are gearing themselves up for another shopping spree on the South coast armed with the £145m generated from the sale of Phillip Coutinho.
Having already spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk from the south coast club at the start of the month, Liverpool still have a voucher for a free Manolo Gabbiadini to use up and a shed load of cash from the sale of Coutinho to spend on several mediocre replacements.
The unambitious scousers have been on the look out for someone over priced and lacking in ability ever since it first became clear Coutinho wanted out after handing in a transfer request during pre season.
Coutinho reason I joined Liverpool
Virgil van Dyjk has revealed that, ironically, it was the outgoing Brazilian who convinced him to make the move to Merseyside.
“I spoke with him a lot in the lead up to the transfer”, he said, “he told me joining Liverpool was a great opportunity for me and I should grab it with both hands. He assured me if I come in, work very hard and vastly improve my overall game, I’ll earn a big money move to a big club just like him. It was all I needed to hear to be confident that Liverpool FC is the perfect stepping stone to achieving that”.
